Halle Berry’s Perimenopause is Misdiagnosed as Herpes

First, to our dear Halle Berry, thank you for using your platform this past year to share on women’s health, menopause and your personal journey. You are helping women to not feel excluded and to recognize that this rite of passage includes ALL WOMEN regardless of health status, shape or size.

Below is Halle’s recent story on her Peri-Journey. Following the story I will discuss how we can empower ourselves through this and prepare even more for the Pauses and Dr appointments.

Actress Halle Berry recently sat down with FLOTUS Jill Biden during the “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” Summit in a conversation about menopause and women’s health.

Halle shares how she felt she may skip the Pausal phase because she was healthy and in great shape. She’d successfully weaned herself off of insulin after dealing with diabetes and maintained a disciplined lifestyle.

It was after visiting her gynecologist with what felt like “razor blades in her vagina” that the Dr concluded she had the worst case of herpes he’d ever seen. She and her partner both tested negative despite the continued diagnosis claim.

Weeks later she learned her sensations were symptoms of perimenopause.
She expressed how her Dr had no idea and the importance of her continuing to use her platform to educate other women.

Now Let’s Talk

Journeying is a trial and error experience. Each of you will learn how to track what you’re experiencing. You will learn your style of communicating with your peers and your Drs. You will accept the reality that it is NOT a perfect linear journey. You will HAVE to learn to breathe and give yourself grace. With that being said I want you to review my 4 points below whenever experiencing anything in your body.

1. Make note of your symptoms( the feeling, the look, the aroma if one is present)
2. Get a second medical opinion (this means that you need to go see your Dr. Nothing is too small or insignificant)
3. Brave sharing your concern with a peer or someone who can encourage further investigation of your issue
4. Search for a Menopause-trained Physician

Thank you for reading. It is highly likely; most of us Gen Xers are there.
